Measuring cells / load cells from BOSCHE

Measuring cells or load cells, also known as load cells, are the core of every scale. They are responsible for tension and pressure measurement. Depending on the type of scale, several measuring cells can be installed. These provide the appropriate pressure or tensile force (with the help of a DMS measuring amplifier) in grams, kilograms or tons.

In order to ensure a precise measurement result, the measuring cells must work with highest accuracy. The measuring cells from Bosche impress with quality, longevity and precision.

Measuring cells from BOSCHE

Since the load cell is the core of every scale, much of the accuracy and reliability of the devices depends on it. The force transducers in our load cells have an accuracy of at least 3000 divisions. They are predominantly certified according to OIML accuracy class C3 - ensuring even higher measurement accuracy.

Our load cells are based on the strain gauge measuring principle with a circuit as full bridges to meet the high demands of certified scales. By default, all load cells are available in 4-wire technology. However, a connection in 6-wire technology is also possible upon request and is recommended depending on the intended use. Applications of a Load Cell

High-precision scales are used in all measurement applications. Their accuracy is crucial for optimizing manufacturing processes and ensuring the smooth operation of production plants. Load cells are usually installed inside scales or machines.

These elements are used wherever tension or compression needs to be measured:
- Crane scales
- Floor scales
- Platform scales

An extensive application area is found in industry. Here, load cells are used, for example, in filling plants to fill precise quantities into various containers in large quantities. They also play a role in quality control, for example, in measuring the stability of products and determining a specific point of maximum load.

Not only the load cell, but also the evaluation is crucial for these measuring techniques. For this purpose, we offer you the suitable equipment in all necessary areas for reliable and high-quality evaluation.

Functioning of a Load Cell

Load cells operate on a relatively simple principle. Each load cell has an element that deforms under pressure (the so-called spring body). This deformation (change in resistance) is translated into mV/V by means of a strain gauge (SG).

SGs are electrical conductors attached to the strain body. When the body deforms, this can be measured via the change in resistance of the SG and transferred to newtons, grams, or other units. Thus, a physical force is translated into an electronic signal - the digital output is provided at the scale display.

Different Load Cells for Different Applications

Since load cells are needed in almost all industries from packaging to medical technology, we offer a comprehensive range for every use, covering various applications. But which one is right for you?

The S load cell is primarily used for tensile force measurement but can also be used for compressive force measurement. It is generally used for medium to small loads, up to a weight of about 1 ton.

If you want to determine vertical force impacts, shear bars are more suitable. Here, they are used in platform scales, container scales, or floor scales. They are suitable for precise measurements up to a weight of 5 tons.

Another important question is the weight you want to measure. Different load cells are used for fine gram scales than for scales up to a ton. There are also scales with only one load cell for up to 2 tons (single point) or scales with multiple load cells for weighing heavy loads.

With this PDF, we provide you with assistance in selecting the right load cell for your needs. In addition, we are happy to advise you personally to find the right load cells for you. We are also happy to check whether custom manufacturing is an option for you to provide the highest precision in all areas.
