Difference between roll-through scales and floor scales
At first sight, roll-through scales could easily be confused with conventional floor or platform scales. Roll-through scales however come with a few extra features that are not found with the other models. They are equipped with at least one ramp so that roll containers or similar transport containers with castors can be easily moved onto the scales. We offer roll-through scales with integrated or detachable ramps. While a second ramp allows for fast roll-on and roll-off, it is not always required or even desired. That is why we offer scales with overrun guards that are loaded from one side only. Side bars are another important safety feature as they prevent the roll container or pallet truck from sliding from the scales. To make it easy to place the load on the scales, the roll-through scales from BOSCHE are of a special flat design.
Key features of roll-through scales
Scales that are used with various containers must come with a tare function. In the BOSCHE models, the empty weight of the individual roll containers can be recorded and stored. This is of particular advantage to production companies where the individual containers bear a serial number. In this case, the weight of each container can be determined and stored with the serial number, to prevent any inaccuracies as even containers of the same make and model often differ in weight. Before weighing the load, the code is read with a barcode scanner or manually entered. This ensures precise load weighing results. If roll-through scales are used to determine the weight of goods where the price depends on the actual weight, the scales need to be verified. When buying a weighing system, companies must thus ensure that the chosen model is actually verifiable.
Conclusion
Roll-through scales allow for the accurate weighing of goods used in production processes, doing away with time-consuming unloading. The weighing process can thus be perfectly integrated into the production process.
