Weighing animals with BOSCHE animal scales

Animal scales have a special animal weighing program for many different species. Animal scales have a broad range of applications. They are used both in veterinary medicine and in the agricultural industry. The special animal scales are designed specifically for fast weighing in order to keep the stress to the animals to a minimum. Read more...

Veterinary scales for veterinarians and clinics

BOSCHE offers one type of scales for weighing dogs, cats and other small animals that no vet should be without. By weighing an animal, it is often possible to determine its medical condition both quickly and accurately. Small animal scales are primarily used to weigh pets and allow the vet to calculate the appropriate medication dosage. They are ideal for small dogs, puppies, cats, rabbits, large fish or turtles. Bird scales are used to determine the weight of parrots, pigeons and many other bird species. They consist of precision scales with an integrated perch. Horse scales are used in horse clinics, but can also be found at studs and in riding clubs. Rabbit scales are obviously particularly popular with rabbit breeders, who might however use baby scales to weigh their animals.

Livestock scales in the agricultural industry

Animal scales are an important quality control tool in the agricultural sector. Livestock scales include special scales for pigs, sheep and cattle. Most models are designed to weigh a single animal, while others cater for groups of animals. As a rule, single animal scales are portable and are generally used for large livestock such as pigs, cattle and sheep. These scales are often also used as sorting scales for gilts (checking the udder). Group animal scales are stationary scales that are used mainly for fattening pigs. Often an entire pen is weighed together. If animal scales are used to select animals for slaughter, the scales can be equipped with a traffic light system to make it easier to sort the animals by weight classes. Livestock scales are used principally for weighing live animals, in particular large ones, and must therefore meet a number of specific requirements. As animals do not generally want to be weighed, the scales are often equipped with a cage to prevent the animals from escaping. For reasons of hygiene, animal scales are made from high-quality and easy-to-clean materials, such as stainless steel or aluminium. It is also important that the scales are as close to the ground as possible to minimise the risk of animals tripping and injuring themselves. In order to accurately weigh animals that have a tendency to move around during weighing, the process must be quick, which is ensured by a special software program. As the load cells are protected against sudden impacts, BOSCHE livestock scales are particularly accurate and reliable. Animals are often normally weight outdoors, in stables or abattoirs. That is why the cables and load cells come with additional protection against damage caused by rodents or dirt.
