Hanging scales and crane scales from BOSCHE
Hanging scales and crane scales are used to weigh suspended loads. They provide a cost-effective solution for all industries where loads are transported overhead, such as the recycling, metal machining, civil engineering and logistics sectors. To weigh a load, simply attach it to the digital hanging or crane scales and lift it off the ground. The scales are shipped with the necessary lifting tackle and a hook. The safety latch prevents loads from slipping off the hook. On request, the scales can be shipped with rotating hooks. Crane scales must only be used to weigh suspended loads.
Their weighing range should be chosen so that the expected maximum weight does not exceed 2/3 of the maximum permissible rated load of the crane scales. Crane scales are normally overdimensioned (150% of rated load), as unexpected dynamic loads (e.g. when the crane load is moved) could otherwise result in an overload on the load cells. Overloading of the scales can pose a serious risk to the safety of the equipment. As crane scales are integrated into lifting equipment, we recommend having them examined for excessive wear and damage at regular intervals (i.e. every 3 months). Read more...

Types of suspension scales
Hanging scales
Small digital hanging scales for up to 100 kg are very easy to use and compact in design. That is why they are very popular as fish, hunting or luggage scales.
Larger hanging scales cater for weights up to 600 kg. Most hanging scales are also suitable for the weighing of animals. Hanging scales for greater loads are known as crane scales.
Crane scales
Crane scales and crane hook scales are used for the weighing of heavy loads in industrial companies. They are specifically designed for operation in harsh industrial environments but are also widely used in trade companies, food processing plants and logistics companies. As the name implies, these scales are operated in conjunction with a crane hook. The crane scales are attached to the hook of the crane and the goods are then lifted with the hook of the scales.
Load link
Load links are primarily used to measure tensile forces. These link elements consist of a compact load cell with integrated evaluation electronics and display. High precision, compact design and low weight are the key features of our portable load links.
They also serve as user-friendly force measuring devices. In this case, the measured weight is converted into Newton. Such applications require special functions, in particular the PEAK and HOLD function.
Lifter scales
Crane scales used in the medical sector are generally referred to as lifter scales and must comply with the relevant Medical Devices Act and EU Directive 93/42/EEC. Verifiable lifter scales can be integrated into many different lifter systems, which are widely used in nursing homes and hospitals. Lifter scales are also very popular with home care services. The verifiable patient lifter scales can be easily attached with eyelets to existing lifter systems.
Accessories
Second remote display - Having a second display is particularly useful where the actual scales are outside the field of view of the operator, or for weighing of loads in hazard zones.
Wireless display / infrared remote control - Operate the scales from a distance through a keypad
Exchangeable battery, WLAN, transport case
Official verification
Before purchasing any scales, you should check whether they need to be verified. According to EU Directive 90/384 EEC, hanging and crane scales need to be verified if they are used for the following purposes:
- For trade, if the price of a commodity is determined by weight.
- For official purposes such as determining fees and penalties.
- For the manufacture of pre-packaged products.
If your scales are used for any of these purposes, you can order the optional official verification together with the device.
Functions of hanging scales
Tare function - to deduct the weight of the container. Only the actual added or deducted weight is displayed. With the multiple tare function, multiple loads can be added, based on the formulation.
Totalling function - to add partial weights, for display of the total weight.
Automatic switch-off function - energy saving function. The scales are automatically switched off after a user-defined time.
Peak function - only the maximum measured weight is displayed.
Hold function - the measured weight is "frozen" on the display. This function is useful for application where the value on the display cannot be seen while weighing takes place. The "freeze time" for the weight can be set by the user in seconds.
Power supply - as hanging and crane scales are portable devices, they are equipped with a rechargeable or non-rechargeable batteries. Exchangeable batteries allow for uninterrupted weighing, for example in multi-shift operations.
