You need a verified scale when measurement results are used in legally regulated transactions – for example, when selling goods by weight, calculating fees, producing or checking pre-packaged goods, weighing vehicles, or determining body weight for medical purposes. We mark verifiable models with the "M" symbol and, if desired, carry out conformity assessment in accordance with EU Directive 2014/31/EU. The initial verification can only be carried out before dispatch; subsequent verification is not possible. The validity of the verification usually lasts two to three years, after which you must apply for re-verification in good time at the responsible verification office. A factory calibration is an internal manufacturer test; it is not legally regulated and serves internal quality control, for example with reactivated devices or for regular checks. A calibration according to DAkkS (German Accreditation Body) is carried out by an accredited laboratory; it is not legally required but is important for quality management systems (e.g. ISO 9001) and documents measurement accuracy. Verification, on the other hand, is legally required as soon as a scale is used in legally regulated transactions. Only verifiable scales with type approval can be verified. While a factory or DAkkS calibration determines measurement deviation and documents it in a calibration certificate, official verification confirms by stamping that the scale complies with permissible error limits. Regular calibration ensures that your scale measures accurately and reliably; it prevents measurement errors, avoids production downtime, and guarantees compliance with quality standards. We offer both factory and DAkkS calibrations according to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17025. There are no fixed recalibration intervals – the optimal interval depends on device type, operating conditions, and your accuracy requirements. As a starting point, we recommend annual calibrations; for heavy use, semi-annual intervals are advisable. On request, we monitor your deadlines and remind you in good time of upcoming calibrations. Our service supports you throughout the entire life cycle of your scales. This includes DAkkS-accredited calibrations for scales and weights – either on-site or in the laboratory – expert inspection and adjustment to ensure your scale remains precise, as well as conformity assessment (manufacturer’s initial verification) including nameplate and EU declaration of conformity.
