Modern warehouse management and order picking require accurate item master data. Improving process quality means determining dimensions (girth) and weight precisely – for exact freight billing and for the transport or storage space actually required. The BOSCHE 3D volumetric scale is the ideal tool for contactless volume and weight capture of packages. The semi-automatic measurement (length × width × height and weight) takes only seconds. Based on the dimensions, the right packaging can be selected and warehouse loading plans can be organised. Contactless dimension capture is provided by three high-precision laser sensors that scan the cuboid cartons. The corresponding volumetric weight is calculated during weighing. An optional camera can add a product photo to the master data.

Laser or ultrasonic? Parcel dimensioning systems compared

Volume measuring systems capture the dimensions of an object either by laser (light pulses, e.g. time-of-flight or triangulation) or by ultrasound (sound waves). The key advantages and disadvantages of both technologies at a glance:

Why the 3D Silence relies on laser technology: For master data capture and freight billing, accuracy and speed are what count. The three laser distance sensors measure cuboid packages to within ± 1 mm – regardless of the noise level in the warehouse. For reliable readings, the ambient conditions stated above apply (max. 10,000 lux ambient light, +5 … +40 °C). Mainly measuring glass, reflective or transparent packaging? Software

The software included in the scope of delivery visualises weight and dimension data directly on the supplied Windows computer or your own. The software of the volume and weight measuring device calculates the volume and volumetric weight from the dimensions and the weight.
Hotkeys allow easy export to your shipping system: various function keys on your keyboard write the data directly to the cursor position. The configurable software can be adapted on request (other language, scanner as trigger etc.). Via an interface connection, the measured values can be transferred directly into the master data of the warehouse management system (WMS).

Construction

The extremely flat weighbridge substructure made of powder-coated steel is exceptionally robust. It is equipped with three laser-welded load cells.
Volume measurement is handled by three high-quality laser distance sensors of laser class 2. They measure the length, width and height of the parcel to within 1 mm.
For optimal integration into your processes, the BOSCHE 3D scale is available in different sizes.
Weighing range: 30 kg, 60 kg or 150 kg.

The digital tape measure with LCD display is the ideal solution for efficiently and precisely transferring measurement values to the VolumeScannerProfessional software. With a length of 5 m and a width of 25 mm, it offers the flexibility to measure even large objects that are too large for volume measurement systems. The measurement results are shown digitally on the display, either in mm or cm, and can be recorded with an accuracy of ±1.0 mm. Thanks to the integrated Bluetooth interface, the measured values are transmitted directly and error-free to VolumeScannerProfessional.
