Cargo Scale for Airport and Logistics Applications

The cargo scale is a robust weighing solution for the determination of freight weight of air cargo, pallets and pieces of baggage in airport and logistics environments. It is designed and manufactured on a project-specific, customer-specific basis and is suitable for use in cargo terminals, transshipment centers and logistical hubs.

The scale can be installed flush with the floor or equipped with access ramps and is designed so that it can be driven onto from all sides by forklift trucks, pallet trucks or baggage transport vehicles. This allows the weighing process to be efficiently integrated into existing logistics workflows.

Various weighing indicators and large displays are available for displaying and processing weight data. Optionally, printers, barcode scanners and interfaces to logistics and warehouse management software can be integrated.

For extended applications, an industrial PC (AL-logic) can be connected. This allows weighing data to be recorded locally, documented and exported to higher-level systems. A barcode scanner with camera function can be used to capture baggage items or, for example, to document transport damage during onward shipment.

As this is an individual project solution, the design, dimensions, equipment and technical details are coordinated to match the respective application.

Technical features

  • Load capacity up to approx. 10,000 kg.
  • Robust, durable construction for long-term industrial use.
  • Can be used both indoors and outdoors.
  • Textured steel surface provides additional grip, e.g. in wet environments.
  • Epoxy coating protects against corrosion.
  • No pit construction necessary – the scale is mobile and quickly ready for use.
  • Low height of approx. 100 mm with gently sloping ramps allows access for forklifts or hand trucks.
  • Designed with four load cells for even load distribution and high measuring accuracy.
  • External electronics with approx. 10 m connection cable and stainless steel connection box for protection against environmental influences.

Your customized freight scale – flexibly configured

We configure your freight scale to suit your specific project requirements – from the mechanical design, materials, and protection class to the electronics, interfaces, and software.

Mechanics

  • Platform dimensions: designed to project specifications, also available in custom sizes for air freight, pallets, or containers
  • Design types: flush-mounted cargo scale, drive-over scale with ramps, in-floor installation, custom designs
  • Options: access ramps, impact protection, guide stops, integration into existing floor or conveyor systems

Material & Environment

  • Materials: Painted steel or stainless steel, surfaces depending on the application (e.g., smooth sheet or checker plate)
  • Operating Conditions: Designed for use in airport cargo areas and logistics environments, indoors or outdoors
  • Protection & Design: Project-specific protection types and structural design adapted to weather, soiling, and mechanical stress

Electronics & Data

  • Display & operation: Scale display or control panel, integrated into the design or separate on a stand/mounting bracket
  • Interfaces: Project-specific connection, e.g., via serial interfaces, Ethernet, WLAN, Bluetooth, and fieldbuses
  • Functions: Weight recording, totalization, simple control functions; connection of printers and barcode scanners
  • Data processing & software: Local data storage, data export, and optional connection to logistics or warehouse software

Planning with precision – how we proceed

First, we listen: What shall be weighed? How is loading done? Where will the scale be located? Based on this, we propose a design—for example, a custom weighing frame that fits under your table, or a platform tailored to your load carriers. Together we clarify details such as surfaces, cleanability, cable routing, and the indicator. The result is a solution that works in everyday use—without detours.

FAQs - Frequently asked questions

The path to your individual cargo scale takes place in four steps:

  1. Consulting & Requirements Analysis: Clarification of the area of application (airport/logistics), goods to be weighed, accessibility, installation situation, and requirements for data processing and documentation.
  2. Design & Development: Determination of the design (e.g., flush-mounted or with ramps), suitable display and interface solutions, as well as optional peripherals.
  3. Manufacturing & Integration: Project-specific implementation including integration of the display, interfaces, and additional components. Delivery & Commissioning: Delivery, installation (if required), functional testing, and training after consultation.

Yes. The cargo scale can be designed specifically for your project so that it can be used in typical logistics processes – for example, accessible by forklifts, pallet trucks, or baggage handling vehicles. The specific design depends on your operating conditions.

Various display options are available for the cargo scale – from classic scale displays to large displays for improved readability during operation. The selection depends on visibility, processes, and installation location.

Yes. Depending on the project, interfaces can be provided to transfer weight data to logistics or warehouse management systems. The type of interface will be individually adapted to your system landscape.

Yes. Optionally, an industrial PC can be integrated for local data storage and export. This allows weighing information to be collected and forwarded to higher-level systems or software solutions.

Depending on the application, various peripheral devices can be integrated, e.g., printers for receipts or labels, as well as barcode scanners. A barcode scanner with a photo function can be used to document shipments or to record transport damage.

Calibration and – if permitted and desired – verification options can be tailored to the specific project. The scope of documentation (e.g., test reports or calibration documents) depends on the intended use and your requirements.

Yes. Delivery and commissioning can be arranged individually. Upon request, we also provide on-site support with installation, functional testing, and training.
