The mechanical triple beam scale is a single-pan scale with three beams with sliding weights. The triple beam scale is often referred to as a sliding weight scale and works according to the principle of equilibrium.
The weighing pan is placed on a movable beam with a horizontal axis.
To weigh, the object to be weighed is placed in one of the pans. Then mass in the form of weights is placed in the other pan until the scale is in balance. The mass of the object to be weighed is then so large that as the sum of the weights in the other pan.
