How Does IoT Work with BOSCHE Components?

When configuring your weighing display—such as models like CSS, GTS, GTE, GTW or GTC – you can select the optional IoT feature. This includes a specially developed transmission board with an integrated SIM card, enabling mobile data transfer via the LTE network. The necessary hardware is already integrated—plug & play for connected weighing processes.

Scope of Delivery for the IoT Gateway

The IoT solution includes all essential components for immediate entry into connected weighing technology:

• Password-protected access to the BOSCHE Cloud platform
• SIM card with 500 MB data volume, 2-year validity (extendable)
• IoT gateway hardware with antenna, compactly integrated into the scale display

Once you’ve selected your IoT-enabled display, you can add additional system components tailored to your application.

Typical Use Cases Include:

• Level monitoring of feed silos
• Remote monitoring of compactors or containers
• Automated reordering when material levels drop
• Real-time alerts when thresholds are exceeded

A Practical Example

For monitoring silos, IoT weighing modules like the BOSCHE D15N-MS are used. These are mounted directly under the silo supports and connected to the IoT display via a junction box. The recorded weight data is continuously transmitted via LTE to the BOSCHE Cloud—a 2-year plan includes 500 MB of data volume.

With individually assigned credentials, you gain remote access to your weighing data through the BOSCHE Cloud. The intuitive interface provides an easy overview of current fill levels, weight history, and defined thresholds. You can also define custom event rules—for example, alerts when weight changes fall outside a defined range or reach minimum/maximum values.

Optimized data transmission through stability testing

To efficiently minimize data volume and energy consumption, weight values ​​are only transmitted when relevant changes occur. A measured value is only sent if it has proven stable for a period of at least two minutes. This means: If the weight has changed within the last two minutes, no data set is transmitted. Only if the value remains constant for more than two minutes is the current weight transmitted once. In addition, a so-called heartbeat signal is sent every ten hours – as proof of the system's functionality.
