The design principle uses the compatibility of a reduced diameter of the load measuring pins in the separation areas between a holding plate, i.e. the flanges and a central tool. This bears the main burden. The reduced diameter of the bolt creates zones of deformation. The strain gauges (DMS) are placed in these. This ensures sufficient strain concentration. This in turn is important to guarantee high accuracy and repeatability.
