Platform Scale SP E – Compact Base Scale for Simple and Reliable Weighing

The platform scale SP E combines the compact weighing platform SP with a robust base weighing indicator for simple and precise weighing tasks. Depending on requirements, the platform scale is available with the weighing indicator GTE for non-trade-approved applications or with the weighing indicator EWI for legally for trade applications.

With its stainless steel platform measuring 250 x 250 mm, the SP E is ideally suited for precise weighing in the lower weighing range. The sturdy construction, reliable strain gauge technology and easy-to-read display make this platform scale a practical solution for industry, warehouse, shipping, production, goods receipt and quality assurance.

Weighing Indicator GTE and EWI

The platform scale SP E is available in two indicator variants: The GTE indicator is intended for non-trade-approved weighing applications, while the EWI indicator can be used for legally for trade applications. The EWI indicator is approved for use in accuracy classes III and IIII.

Both indicator variants are designed as robust base weighing indicators and offer all essential basic functions for daily weighing operation. These include tare, zero and gross/net weighing. In addition, the indicator features a dedicated program for animal weighing as well as a memory for the number of weighings and the resulting total weight.

The large, backlit 60 mm LCD display with 50 mm digit height ensures excellent readability even from greater distances. The high-contrast display with status symbols assists the operator in quickly and reliably capturing weight values.

Operating the Platform Scale SP E

The platform scale SP E is operated via a convenient, moisture-protected membrane keypad with 8 function keys. The large keys have a distinct tactile click, giving the operator confidence when using the scale.

The most important functions – zeroing, taring, gross/net weighing, summation and animal weighing – are accessible directly via the indicator. This allows even inexperienced personnel to operate the scale quickly and confidently. Calibration and function settings are configured easily via the keypad.

Interfaces and Data Transfer

Optionally, the weighing terminal can be equipped with a serial RS232 interface. This enables a bidirectional connection to a scanner or barcode reader, printer, PC or secondary display.

For legally for trade applications, a customer-specific, trade-approved receipt printout including alibi number, date and time can be output via the interface. The interface can also be used to control a signal light to support visual quality control processes.

An optional Ethernet/LAN interface is also available, allowing the platform scale to be integrated into existing workflows and data capture processes.

Legal for Trade with EWI Indicator

The version with EWI indicator is suitable for legally for trade applications. The indicator is approved for accuracy classes III and IIII and can therefore be used for weighing processes subject to documentation requirements.

The integrated alibi memory enables traceable storage and transfer of weight values with time and date in the legally for trade EWI version. This makes the platform scale SP E with EWI indicator particularly suitable for applications where verified weight values must be transmitted to a printer, PC or other systems.

The metrological parameters are protected by an internal calibration counter, ensuring that relevant settings remain traceable and that the scale can be reliably used for legally for trade applications.

Power Supply

As standard, the weighing indicator is powered via a plug-in power supply at 100–240 V / 50–60 Hz. This makes the platform scale SP E suitable for stationary use at workstations, inspection stations, packaging stations and production areas.

Construction and Installation

The weighing platform SP features a robust stainless steel platform with a sturdy base frame in powder-coated steel. The load is reliably transferred to the high-quality strain gauge load cell. Height-adjustable feet and an integrated spirit level assist in accurately aligning the scale at the point of use.

The 2 m connecting cable allows the weighing indicator to be positioned flexibly alongside the platform. This keeps the display easily accessible and readable even when the weighing platform is integrated into work surfaces, inspection stations, packaging areas or control points.

Depending on the version, the indicator is housed in a robust aluminium or stainless steel enclosure with protection class IP65. The housing is mounted via VESA 75 and is supplied as standard with a desk/wall bracket. A stand is optionally available.
