Product information "Platform Scale SP C"
Platform Scale SP C – Compact Counting Scale for Precise Weighing and Piece Counting
The platform scale SP C combines the compact weighing platform SP with a powerful counting scale display for precise weighing and counting tasks. Depending on requirements, the platform scale is available with the GTC counting display for non-trade-approved applications or with the MCI counting display for legally for trade counting and weighing applications.
With its stainless steel platform measuring 250 x 250 mm, the SP C is ideally suited for precise weighing and piece counting in the lower weighing range. The sturdy construction, reliable strain gauge load cell technology, and the convenient counting display with three illuminated screens make this platform scale a practical solution for industry, warehouse, shipping, production, goods receipt, order picking, and quality assurance.
Applications of the Platform Scale SP C
The platform scale SP C is designed for applications where piece counts need to be reliably determined, checked, accumulated, or documented in addition to weight. Thanks to its intuitive operation and numeric keypad, the scale is particularly well suited for counting processes, checkweighing, and recurring order picking tasks.

Counting Scale Display GTC and MCI
The platform scale SP C is available in two display variants: the GTC display is intended for non-trade-approved counting and weighing applications, while the MCI display can be used for legally for trade applications. The MCI display is legally for trade according to accuracy class III and IIII.
The counting display is designed for demanding counting applications and clearly shows all key values on three illuminated LCD screens: weight, piece weight, and piece count. This allows the operator to quickly and reliably read the current weighing and counting results.
Weight and piece count can be accumulated in memory. In addition, the display supports quantity control and weight control with freely selectable limit values. An audible signal can be triggered when a target piece count or limit value is reached or exceeded.

Operating the Platform Scale SP C
The platform scale SP C is operated via a convenient, moisture-protected membrane keypad with numeric and function keys. The large keys have a distinct tactile click, giving the operator confidence when using the scale.
Reference piece counts, piece weights, tare weights, and target piece counts can be entered directly via the numeric keypad. This allows counting and checkweighing processes to be set up quickly and operated safely even by untrained personnel.
The three illuminated displays show weight, piece weight, and piece count separately. All relevant values are therefore clearly visible at all times. The backlighting can be adjusted via the menu and ensures good readability even in poor lighting conditions.
Piece Counting and Reference Optimisation
During piece counting, the average piece weight is calculated from the weight of a reference quantity. The platform scale SP C can then reliably determine the piece count of larger quantities. The high internal resolution of 1:1,000,000 parts supports precise determination of the piece weight.
The automatic reference weight update enables the counting display to continuously optimise the piece weight. This reduces counting errors and improves accuracy in recurring counting processes.
For particularly flexible applications, a second weighing platform can optionally be connected. This allows a counting system to be set up with a small reference scale and a larger quantity scale.
Quantity Control and Weight Control
The platform scale SP C is ideally suited for control tasks with predefined target piece counts or weight limits. Two freely selectable limit values can be defined via the HIGH-OK-LOW function. The display then assists the operator with on-screen indication and an audible signal when evaluating the weighing or counting result.
For piece count control, a lower and an upper limit can be set. This allows the operator to quickly see whether the current piece count is below, within, or above the defined target range. An integrated signal light can optionally be used to provide additional visual support during checkweighing.
- Yellow: too few parts in the target range
- Green: target value reached or within the tolerance range
- Red: limit value exceeded or too many parts
Interfaces and Data Transfer
The counting display features a serial RS-232 interface that enables bidirectional communication with a scanner or barcode reader, printer, PC, or remote display.
Weighing and counting results can be transferred to external systems via the interface, or customer-specific receipts can be printed. For legally for trade applications with MCI display, a legally for trade receipt printout with alibi number, date, and time can be generated.
A signal light can also be controlled via the interface to provide visual support for checkweighing and piece count control. WLAN or Ethernet are also available as options to integrate the platform scale into existing workflows and data capture processes.
Legal for Trade with MCI Display
The version with MCI display is suitable for legally for trade applications. The display is legally for trade according to accuracy class III and IIII and can therefore be used for weighing processes requiring documentation.
The weighing function is approved for up to 10,000 scale intervals in accordance with OIML R76. The maximum number of verification values is n = 10,000 for single-range and multi-range 3 x 3000 e, depending on ambient conditions and the composition of the modules.
The integrated alibi memory enables verified transfer of weight values with date and time to a printer or PC. This makes the platform scale SP C with MCI display particularly suitable for applications where verified and traceably documented weighing results are required.
Power Supply
As standard, the counting scale display is powered via a mains adapter. This makes the platform scale SP C ideal for stationary use at workstations, inspection stations, packaging stations, and production areas.
An internal rechargeable battery is available as an option. This allows the scale to be used flexibly at changing locations, for example in warehouse areas, production lines, or mobile inspection stations.
Construction and Installation
The weighing platform SP features a robust stainless steel platform with a sturdy base frame in powder-coated steel. The load is reliably transferred to the high-quality strain gauge load cell. Height-adjustable feet and an integrated spirit level support precise alignment of the scale at the point of use.
Thanks to the 2 m connecting cable, the counting display can be positioned flexibly alongside the platform. This keeps the display easily accessible and readable even when the weighing platform is integrated into work surfaces, inspection stations, packaging areas, or control points.
Depending on the version, the display is housed in a robust aluminium or stainless steel enclosure with protection class IP65. The housing is mounted via VESA 75 and is supplied as standard with a table/wall bracket. A stand is available as an option.
